CALACA PLANT NEGATIVE FOR MERCURY

The National Power Corp. (Napocor) yesterday reiterated that the 600-megawatt Calaca power plant conformed with the standards, contrary to reports.

Jesus Alcordo, Napocor president, said the plant's emission and waste disposal tested negative for mercury or "non-detected," based on a test conducted by the Philippine Institute of Pure and Applied Chemistry (PIPAC).
